Curbless showers, heated floors and moving drains add to these ranges.
A curbless shower has no step: the bathroom floor runs straight into the shower. It looks clean, makes a small room feel bigger and is easy to use at any age. It takes more planning than a standard shower.
The shower floor must slope to the drain while staying level with the room. That usually means lowering the subfloor in the shower area or building up the rest of the floor.
A long, narrow drain along one wall or at the entry lets the floor slope one way, so large tiles can run straight through.
With no curb to hold water back, the membrane runs well out into the bathroom floor, not just inside the shower.
A tall fixed panel and door keep spray in. Glass is measured after the tile is finished so it fits.
No step to trip on, room for a seat or grab bars. Many people plan one now so they can stay in the house longer.
We look at the floor structure and the drain location first, so you know whether curbless works in your room.
Rebuilding a bathroom with the drains where they are usually needs no permit. Adding a bathroom or moving drains and vents needs a Town of Grimsby building permit, and we apply and book the plumbing inspections.
Former cottages turned into homes often have small bathrooms, low crawlspaces and plumbing that was added over the years. We open things up, replace what is behind the walls and plan storage carefully.
